The channel will replace TV2 Film, which the broadcaster is cutting due to competition from other specialist film channels. SIX PEOPLE have been charged with match-fixing in two of Hvidovre IF’s secondtier games four years ago, against Vejle Boldklub and FC Hjørring. The six allegedly earned 900,000 kroner, while it is believed a Filipino organisation wagered 2-3 million kroner. The court case will begin on December 19. DENMARK’S three-film shortlist to become the 2014 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar has been confirmed. The films are Niels Arden Oplev’s ‘Kapgang’ (‘Speed Walking’), Pernille Fischer Christensen’s ‘En du elsker’ (‘Someone You Love’) and Nils Malmros’s ‘Sorg og glæde’ (‘Sorrow and Joy’). A NEW INDEPENDENT Danish film is creating a lot of buzz in the US. Directed by Danny Thykær and produced by 42/46, ‘Backgammon’ has yet to be released in Denmark, but is on the shortlist for award nominations at several US film festivals, including the AOF International Film Festival in Ltos Angeles. PARTICIPANTS at the Beijing International Book Fair will get the chance to sample works from Danish publishers and literary agencies this week. Statens Kunstfond supported the effort to send Danish works to the third largest book fair in the world. Other Nordic countries will also be represented at the booth. AN IMPRESSIVE number of Danes are in the line-up for this year’s Cologne c/o festival. Singer-songwriter Agnes Obel is joined by five other Danish acts: Julias Moon, Kill J, Asbjørn, Blaue Blume and Den Sorte Skole. The acts offer a mixture of pop, world music, club music and other genres. September 1 Simon’s birthday SIMON Spies, the legendary travel tycoon and founder of Spies Rejser, was born on this day in 1921.
