A group of differently-abled persons staged a road roko on Anna Main
Road, K. K. Nagar, demanding to meet the State Commissioner of
Disabled (Govt. Peripheral Hospital Campus, Jawaharlal Nehru
Road, K.K. Nagar) on March 17.
They said that they had to resort to the dharna as the State
Commissioner had been refusing to meet them for the past several
days.
Traffic was disrupted for sometime before the traffic police managed
to disperse the group.

passed away on March 18.
She was 81 and had been
a resident of West
Mambalam for 65 years.
She was the wife of late A. Padmanabhan
(Secretary, Chennai Port Trust and founder
of Pilman’s Phonetic Institute, West
Mambalam).
She is survived by sons Sankaran, Remesh
and Viswanthan and daughters Meenakshi
and Lakshmi.

Sir, Only the white board buses on route numbers 11G and 12G
stop at Ram Colony bus stop (7th Avenue, near TNSC Bank, Ashok
Nagar), which is between Ashok Pillar and Postal Colony bus stops.
The other route 49A and 11H and non-whiteboard buses on 11G and
12G routes do not stop here. This causes hardship to the commuters,
especially senior citizens residing in and around Ram Colony and 7th
Avenue. To go towards Poonamallee or Valasaravakkam or T. Nagar
bus stands, they are forced to walk all the way to either Ashok Pillar
or Postal Colony stops. I appeal to MTC to include Ram Colony bus
stop in all its bus routes plying on 7th Avenue for the benefit of the
